Legal Costs

Most, but not all, criminal proceedings are covered by Legal Aid and Sephton Lee Solicitors are a contracted practice with the Legal Services Commission.

Legal advice and representation at the Police Station is free to everyone.

Legal advice at the Magistrate Court is free to everyone, with the exception of some motoring matters. If your case proceeds to Crown Court you will be means tested and some fees may be payable.

Sephton Lee Solicitors will advise on the question of Legal Aid and in the event you are not eligible, the potential cost of defending a case.
